
The Bellingham Railway Museum offers many special events for members, non-members, educational institutions and private entities. Events such as railroad history walks along abandoned railroad grades, lectures and presentations related to railroading and transportation, Boy Scout Railroading Merit Badge Workshops, club meetings, traveling exhibits to regional train shows, participation in Gallery Walks and downtown events, annual silent auction and of course our Holiday open house.

WHAT: Artist Demonstration: The Bellingham Railway Museum is pleased to announce an art display and technique demonstration by Internationally renowned artist Roger Watt. Mr. Watt is an art consultant teaching drawing with Capilano University and West Vancouver Arts. His pencil drawings have been exhibited both in the UK and Vancouver, most notably at The Royal Academy in London, The National Railway Museum in York, England and Vancouver in an exhibition titled “Capturing the Canadian Spirit” for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

WHAT: Northern Light" A portrait of BC Rail: The Presenter will be Dale Sanders, well known author and photographer from Ferndale WA. Dale was editor of CTC Board Railroads Illustrated magazine and has authored numerous books such as "The Milwaukee Road"," Northwest Passage" and "SP Oregon Division."
His latest book "Northern Light" A portrait of BC Rail will be available for sale and autographing. This is also the subject of his presentation.

WHAT: Bellingham Native Shares Railroading Stories Lecture & Slide Presentation : Mr. Montague is a retired native of Bellingham, he graduated from Bellingham High School in 1945. He spent two years (1944 & 1945) as a general laborer and "gandy dancer," or one who worked primarily on a track gang, for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad in Bellingham. Gene was later employed with the US Post Office as a letter carrier, with a route in the Lettered Streets for 17 of those years. Gene is gifted with an excellent memory and loves to share stories of his past experiences with many groups in our city.

WHAT: Slide Presentation: "Colorado Railroads in the 1960s" George Werkema will make a slide presentation on the various narrow and standard guage railroads in Colorado and northern New Mexico. This is the same presentation George made at Winterail 2002, which was the 25th Annual Slide Show held at Stockton, CA. This premier event is attended by photographers and history and rail enthusiasts from around the world.
